Dan Tarrant

Dan Tarrant is the founder of Personally Catholic, an apostolate that invites people into a more personal relationship with God in the heart of the Catholic Church through in person presentations, books and film. Four of Dan's books have received the Imprimatur of the Catholic Church and many have been made available through the FORMED platform by the Augustine Institute. The Personally Catholic videos series air weekly on CatholicTV, the Catholic Faith Network and Shalom World Catholic Television while also receiving over 100,000 views a year on the Personally Catholic Youtube Channel.
Personal Story
Dan is a revert to the Catholic faith. After a long study of all the world religions Dan returned to Jesus Christ and made the personal decision to entrust his life to Christ as his Savior. That personal relationship with Jesus Christ has been the bedrock of Dan's life ever since. However, it was not until a couple of years later that Dan returned to the Catholic Church of his birth led there by his reading of Scripture, his study of Catholic miracles and a deep personal calling in prayer from God. Dan is known for his love for his non-Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ and serving often as a guest speaker in numerous Evangelical Christian communities is one of the great joys of Dan's life. Dan is also known for his love of the Catholic Sacraments where he believes he encounters God most personally and for his selfless service to the Catholic community for over two decades. Dan is in every way a Christian who is Catholic.
A Husband and Father
Dan has been married to his wife Joanne for over fifteen years and is the father of three adopted children, two from Uganda and one from Philadelphia. Dan and Joanne's story of how God led them to each of their children is a truly powerful and inspiring one about how a personal relationship with God and obedience to Catholic teaching will lead you to a love you would otherwise have never known. As a father in a biracial family, Dan is especially in awe of how God has made his dinner table a place where in many ways the sons and daughters of former slaves and former slave owners sit together at the table of fellowship as Martin Luther King dreamed. However, Dan shares his story with great honesty and humor revealing that being a dad for Christ in his house is not always so dreamy! Dan's journey as a father is a reminder that God's plans are always greater than our own and that a personal relationship with God, while not always easy, is always worth it.
Servant in the Church
Dan has his Masters degree in theology, has served the Catholic Church as a teacher or parish staff member for over 20 years, and also been blessed to serve in unique ecumenical settings like the Global Leadership Summit. Dan is known for calling himself a "describer of the Catholic faith" instead of a defender of the Catholic faith leaning on sharing his story instead of winning arguments. His greatest joy in serving the Church whether it be through a video, book or live presentation is as he puts it: "Making something that is beautiful for God and simultaneously useful for God's people."
